Air France
(formally Société Air France) is the French flag carrier headquartered in Tremblay-en-France near Paris and is one of the world's largest airlines. It is a subsidiary of the Air France-KLM Group and a founding member of the Sky Team global airline alliance.

Air France serves 20 destinations in France and operates worldwide scheduled passenger and cargo services to 150 destinations in 83 countries (including Overseas Departments and territories of France). The airline's global hub is at Paris Charles de Gaulle Aiport with Paris Orly Airport and Lyon-Saint Exupery Airport servinf as secondary hubs. Air France's corporate headquarters is located on the grounds of Charles de Gaulle Airport.

Air France was formed on 7 October 1933 from a merger of Air Orient, Air Union, Compagnie Generale Aeropostale, Compagnie Internationale de Navigation Aerienne (CIDNA) and Societe Generale de Transport (SGTA)
In 1990, the airline acquired the operations of French domestic carrier Air Inter and international rival UTA.

Air France served as France's primary national flag carrier for seven decades prior to its 2003 merger with KLM. In November 2004, Air France ranked as the largest European airline with 25.5% total market share, and was the largest airline in the world in terms of operating revenue.



1. Visa and Customs Regulations



Before traveling abroad, familiarize yourself with the country's entrance and residence formalities at their embassy or consulate, and determine the forms of identification you will be asked to present and their expiration dates.
Unaccompanied children:
  • Children less than 18 years old must present their identity card (which is the only piece of identification required in France and certain countries in the European Union) or their own passport.
  • For international travel, if the accompanying traveler is not the child´s father, mother, or legal guardian, then he or she must hold the child´s travel documents (ID, authorization to leave the country, etc.). If a passport is required for entry into the country of destination, then the authorization to leave the country is not necessary.


2. Customs

Certain products cannot be brought into certain countries (food products and equipment, for example). Find out from the consulate or tourist office of the destination country which products it is illegal to transport.
Important:
The import and export of counterfeit goods is considered a customs misdemeanor.
The buyer:
  • risks fines of up to 300,000€ and up to 3 years in prison for the mere possession of a counterfeit item,
  • may compromise his/her health (counterfeit spirits, perfumes and cosmetics),
  • undermines French industrial heritage and craftsmanship,
- finances criminal networks.
How to use Self-Service Kiosks
Insert your Flying Blue card or a credit or debit card held in your name (even if the card was not used to pay for your ticket), or enter your electronic ticket number or reservation number. At certain kiosks, you can also identify yourself by scanning your passport.

Once the system has identified you:
  • the Self-Service Kiosk will retrieve your electronic ticket from our database,
  • you can confirm your seat or choose another seat on the cabin map,
  • the kiosk will print your boarding pass.
If you need to check in your baggage, simply take it to the "baggage drop-off" counter.


3. Practical information

You can check in using a Self-Service Kiosk:
  • on the day of your flight, up to the Check-In Deadline,
  • alone or in a group,
  • with or without baggage,
  • with a special fare* (a document justifying the special fare will be requested before boarding),
  • for journeys with connecting flights.
With Self-Service Kiosks, you can also:
  • print a trip summary so that you carry the main information for your trip with you,
  • check in for your return flight, if it is scheduled within the 24 hours following your departure flight (this service is not available for La Navette flights),
  • choose a different flight time, if permitted by your fare conditions,
  • verify that your Flying Blue card number has been registered for your flight,
  • purchase an additional baggage allowance**, if necessary. Purchase price at airport rate.
Please note: you receive a 20% reduction if you purchase your additional baggage allowance online before departure.
  • Student, youth, child, couple/family, senior citizen, conference/expo, sailor, tour operator, offshore, NGO, Corsican student. ** Option available for flights with a limit on the number of baggage items allowed. Same price at the check-in desk.

4. Baggage

you take with you in the cabin? Size, weight, prohibited items, liquids… Learn the essentials for preparing your hand baggage.
All unchecked baggage that you keep with you in the cabin is considered hand baggage. For your comfort, pack light!

Your hand baggage must respect the following dimensions: 55cm/21.7 in. (L) x 35cm/13.8 in. (W) x 25cm/9.8 in. (H) – pockets, wheels, and handles included.



5. Authorized number of bags

Only keep with you the items necessary for your comfort during the flight.
In the "Première" "Alizée" and "Affaires" cabins

In the "Voyageur" cabin

9. At the check-in counter

Simply present your electronic ticket, reservation number, Flying Blue card, or your passport, and we’ll take care
of the rest!
  • If you are traveling in the La Première cabin, proceed to the special check-in counters reserved for La Première passengers. If you are departing from the Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport, proceed to terminal 2E, across from boarding gate 2.12. You receive personalized check-in and boarding services.
  • Are you traveling in the Affaires or Premium Voyageur cabins? You enjoy rapid check-in at dedicated check-in counters and priority boarding.
  • For flights within Europe (except La Navette flights), you can check in for both legs of a same-day round-trip flight if you are traveling without baggage.

Easy check-in and boarding
You can check in online, from your home or office. If you choose to check in at the airport, you’ll find special La Première counters in all our airports. Your baggage is affixed with a special label for priority delivery upon arrival. You also have an additional baggage allowance for your hold baggage. You may take 2 cabin hand baggage items (including a garment case) up to a maximum of 18kg.

At Paris-Charles de Gaulle and New York-JFK, your hold baggage is protected using plastic wrap.
