Air Tahiti Nui, with a route network linking the south Pacific to four continents, is the leading air carrier to French Polynesia.

The airline, headquartered in Papeete, operates from Faa’a International Airport. The company was founded in 1996 and commenced flight operations in 1998.

As the flagship carrier of the islands, Air Tahiti Nui’ s mission is to develop tourism and trade from key world markets to Tahiti and Her Islands. It aims to provide high-quality airline service for the people of French Polynesia while striving to be the first choice to the islands.

2 - The Fleet

Air Tahiti Nui exclusively operates one of the youngest fleets of Airbus A340-300 aircraft in the world. These new generation aircraft feature the quietest cabin in the sky while offering state-of-the-art technology and innovation.

Uniquely suited for long-haul flights, the 294-passenger cabin is rated as the quietest in the sky with added spaciousness and comfort in all classes. Reliability and commonality with the Airbus family of A330 and A320 aircraft make our A340s highly efficient to operate in terms of maintenance, parts, and crew training.

Security and Safety
For safety reasons, international rules of air transport forbid passengers to place dangerous items in checked baggage. These items include explosives, inflammable (lighter, matches), corrosive, oxidants, irritants, toxic, radioactive, magnetic, bleach, paint or compressed gas. The Security Screening Agencies have the right to open and inspect any piece of baggage and will remove and confiscate any prohibited items.
  • Only regular luggage will be accepted as checked baggage.
  • Large or unwieldy pieces (TV sets, large appliances, but also oversized windsurf boards, etc.) must be sent as freight.
  • Do not pack the following in your checked baggage: medicine, perishable foodstuffs, fragile or expensive objects; in case of loss they would not be reimbursed. A list of forbidden items in checked or cabin luggage is available from the airline agents.
  • For your own safety, never accept to carry luggage or packages for someone else.
  • Transportation of weapons being strictly regulated, prior application must be filed with the airline for approval.
  • Liquids allowed in passenger cabin luggage - shaving cream and deodorant included - must each be packaged in containers not exceeding 100 ml (3 fl.oz.) and be placed in a transparent plastic bag that can be resealed with a capacity of one liter (30 fl.oz.).
  • Laptop computers must be taken out of their bags during screening, and coats and jackets will be inspected separately.

Poeravafirst (First Class)
Serving six pampered guests in a luxurious enclave, PoeravaFirst is the most exclusive First-Class cabin over the routes that we fly. The centerpiece is the seat itself; fully reclining sleeper seats with state-of-the-art components such as a 12-inch video screen with continual first-run movies and personal in-flight telephones. All amenities are provided such as oversized pillows and blankets and soft pajamas for a restful sleep.

Poerava (Business Class)
Serving 24 passengers, Poerava Business provides the perfect way to begin your vacation or business trip. The space and themed cabin creates an ambiance of Polynesian warmth and hospitality while the two-abreast seating allows for both privacy and comfort.

The ocean-colored seats have been custom designed for the airline with fully adjustable head and leg rests, personal advanced video screens with first-run movies and added spaciousness between the seats to stretch out and enjoy your journey. Business Class seats recline 154 degrees; with a pitch of 53” for window/aisle seats and 55” in the center section.

Our world-class cuisine blends the culinary influences of our Polynesian and French heritage with specialties from each of our destinations. At the heart of the service is world-class cuisine with Polynesian and French influence complemented by Continental fare, your meals will feature unique flavorings and presentations found only on Air Tahiti Nui.

The meal plan is based on the standards of a 5-star restaurant and designed by a staff of international chefs. First and Business Class meals are individually served to you specific requests and the wine list of notable vintages is personally selected by the airline’s Parisian sommelier.

Classe Moano (Coach Class)
Serving 264 passengers, Moana Class service is customized to add comfort and enjoyment over the trans oceanic network. The eight-abreast seating layout in the (2-4-2) arrangement meets the seating requests of couples and families alike.

The aircraft design allows for extra overhead carry-on luggage capacity thereby creating more comfort through less need for under-seat storage. The most popular feature in Coach Class is the personal video system in most aircraft. Every passenger enjoys their own adjustable video screen with enough first run movies and interactive games to quickly pass the time on each flight.
Special meals can be prepared for medical and religious reasons if requested at the time of your reservation or at least 36 hours prior to departure. Special meals requested less than 36 hours cannot be guaranteed. Contact your travel arranger or the Air Tahiti Nui reservation office.

5 - In-Flight Entertainment

Movies
Choose from up to six first-run movie features on each flight in both English and French language channels. From Hollywood blockbusters to popular independent titles, every seat becomes a personal movie theatre in the air.

Music
From take off to landing, choose between eight channels of non-stop music featuring classical, jazz, romantic, popular, international pop, Tahitian, and popular Japanese.

Games
The ATN Game Network is on all our aircraft. The network is easily accessed from your personal remote control. Every passenger can play card and action games against the computer or with other passengers on the flight.

6 - Pre-Flight Checklist

a. Travel Documents
Each passenger is solely responsible for obtaining and carrying the correct travel documentation for the countries to be visited which includes a valid passport, visa if applicable, sufficient funds to cover the length of stay, medical information if applicable, etc.

Always make sure that the way your name appears on your Air Tahiti Nui airline ticket matches your passport. It is also advisable that other documentation you carry matches your passport name and that you identify yourself by the nationality of your passport.

Always make sure your passport is valid for the required time beyond your travel dates. Some countries require a passport to be valid for six months beyond the date of departure.

As Travel Documents required for entry are subject to modification without notice, it is advisable to check with the consulate of each country on your itinerary or consult with your travel arranger before departure. Each passenger is solely responsible for understanding and possessing the correct documents for legally traveling to the countries serviced by Air Tahiti Nui.

b. Tickets
Ensure that you have your e-ticket confirmation or Air Tahiti Nui paper tickets. All passengers with paper tickets must be in possession of that ticket issued by Air Tahiti Nui or your travel arranger.

c. Seat Assignments
It is advisable to reserve seat assignments in advance of your flight by calling an Air Tahiti Nui Reservations Office at least 24 hours prior to departure. For operational reasons, we cannot guarantee assigned seating however, every effort will be made to give you the assigned seat or one similar at check-in. Exit and Bulkhead rows can only be assigned at the airport.

d. Medications
International traveling passengers should always carry enough prescribed medications needed for the duration of their trip.
All medication should be carried only in carry on baggage.
If needles are necessary for medical reasons, they must be declared at airport screening. It is advisable to provide documentation or identification to confirm a medical condition and for all medication to have either a professionally printed labeled identifying the medication or manufacturers or for the medication to be in pharmaceutically labeled packaging.

8 - Entry Requirements - Tahiti

Every visitor to French Polynesia must have a return airline ticket to their resident country or to at least two more continuing destinations, sufficient funds to support themselves while in French Polynesia, in addition to the following:

U.S. and Canadian Citizens:
A passport is required that is valid for three months beyond the date of departure from French Polynesia. No visa is required for stays of up to one month. A foreigner with a residence card for the U.S. is not exempt from the above requirements and should consult the French Consulate for information. American citizens may also be required to carry short-stay visas in the following cases: holders of diplomatic and official passports on assignment, students enrolled in courses in French Polynesia, journalists on assignment, crew members, as well as those who will have paid activities in French Polynesia (including scientists and artists).

NOTE: It is the sole responsibility of the passenger to check which documents are needed for travel and have to these valid documents in order before departing.

9 - Health Certification

No shots or certifications are required for entry from most countries. Regardless of the traveler’s nationality, entry from an infected area of the world, as defined by the World Health Organization, requires certificates of inoculations against cholera, yellow fever, and the plague.

10 - Airport Information

Faa’a International Airport (PPT) is the strategic gateway to the South Pacific and our home base on the island of Tahiti. Air Tahiti Nui operates from the International Terminal Building. For transfers to inter-island flights, Air Tahiti operates from the same terminal and Air Moorea operates from a separate terminal located within a short walking distance from the Air Tahiti Nui arrival area.

For all international flights, the check-in counters open 3 hours prior to departure. On Thursday and Saturday, all flights check in from 5 – 7pm.

The counters close 1 hour prior to departure. For all flights, immigration and the premiere lounge open 2 hours prior to departure.
Recommended check-in: International flights: 3 hours; Domestic: 1 1/2 hours

Important Accessibility Notice:

There are no jet ways in Papeete. Passenger must be able to walk up and down 30 steps to exit and to board the aircraft. If special arrangements are required, please notify Air Tahiti Nui or your travel arranger upon booking and then again prior to departure to and from Tahiti.
