Golden Route Itineraries
We want to make planning your trip to New Zealand as easy as possible, so here's six simple itineraries covering some of the must-see regions of New Zealand to help get you started...
Top of the North Island:
After having a chance to explore New Zealand's largest city of Auckland, this itinerary takes you to the stunning Bay of Islands where there is plenty to see and do on the gorgeous blue waters. From there, head 3 hours south of Auckland, to visit the Waitomo Caves and Rotorua, New Zealand's cultural capital.
South Island Scenic Discovery:
Starting in magnificent Queenstown, witness the breathtaking beauty of the fiords with a daytrip to either Milford or Doubtful Sound. Then journey to stunning Mt. Cook, New Zealand's highest peak, which remains snow-capped all year round. This itinerary ends in Christchurch, the garden city of New Zealand.
North Island Thermal Experience:
This itinerary will give you a glimpse into some of New Zealand's most fascinating areas. Start in New Zealand's largest city of Auckland and head south to Rotorua, a geo-thermal town that is also known as the Maori culture capital. Your last stop is Taupo, home to New Zealand's largest lake which is perfect for trout fishing, skiing and discovering geothermal parks.
Southern Glaciers:
From the east coast city of Christchurch, travel west via the TranzAlpine train, one of the top ten scenic rail journeys in the world. On the west coast you'll find pristine glaciers and magical rainforests. Stay at either Franz Josef or Fox Glacier before heading south to Queenstown. Lastly, visit Mt. Cook, New Zealand's highest peak, on your return to Christchurch.
North and South Island Combo Route:
After exploring Auckland, fly to the South Island's largest city of Christchurch, known for its beautiful gardens and historical architecture. Next stop is stunning Queenstown, New Zealand's adventure capital. Lastly visit the majestic fiords of Milford Sound, a must-see on any visit to New Zealand.
New Zealand Golden Route:
Explore some of the best destinations New Zealand has to offer. From Auckland, visit the glow-worms caves of Waitomo. Then head to Rotorua, New Zealand's culture capital, to experience a range of Maori and geothermal activities. Afterwards, fly south to spectacular Queenstown for adventure, stunning scenery and Milford and Doubtful Sound.
