Aircalin
Created in 1983, Aircalin company is today equipped with a modern and homogenous fleet and offers over 10 direct destinations. As a French airways company, Aircalin meets the high safety standards defined by European Civil Aviation and ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization).
The choice of rationalizing the fleet with Airbuses, A330 and A320, is a plus for technical maintenance and brings greater work flexibility to our technical crews who are permanently qualified on both types of planes.
With its Airbuses Aircalin operates 4 flights a week between Noumea and Tokyo, 3 weekly flights between Noumea and Osaka, 2 between Noumea and Seoul, as well as regional flights to Auckland, Brisbane, Nandi, Papeete, Port Vila, Sydney and Wallis.
Baggage Policies
On the Aircalin network, your checked baggage is carried without charge within the following weight limitations: 30 kg for Hibiscus Class (Business class) passengers 20 kg for Economy Class passengers 10 kg for babies (children under 2 years of age)
Individual Free Checked Baggage Allowances
On our partners conjunction flights, specific rules may apply. Please contact them if you need more information. If you exceed these baggage allowances, you will have to pay for extra weight at the check-in counter. Beyond a certain number of extra kilos, it is advisable to carry your luggage as freight. Feel free to check our commercial services before your departure. Contact us The weight allowance per piece of baggage is 32 kilos, its combined dimensions (length+width+height) must not exceed 300 cm. Carriage of sporting equipments must comply with specific conditions. Transport of bulky articles, wheelchairs, musical instruments and any other special baggage must also comply with special conditions. As the carrier does not take any responsibility regarding the following articles, it is recommended to carry them in your carry-on baggage along with your medicine: Money, jewellery, precious metals, securities, assets, valuables, samples, perishable goods.
SPECIFICITY: ‘CHILD RESTRAINT DEVICE’
Child restraint devices (car seats) showing a car approval label are allowed onboard Aircalin aircrafts, provided they can be placed on seats and fastened with seatbelts. Passengers bear responsibility for placing the child restraint device onboard, according to the instructions provided by the manufacturer (facing forwards or backwards). The width of the bottom of the seat must not exceed 41cm. A seat which does not comply with these regulations can be denied access onboard at check-in or boarding. Bookings and fees for infants with a child restraint device are the same as applied to children (over 2 years old). Only small collapsible strollers are permitted in the passenger cabin.
Special Assistance
If you are ill or injured, if your mobility has been reduced due to: a disability (sensory or motional ), a mental deficiency, age, illness, or any other cause generating a handicap for the use of air transportation, Aircalin offers you a set of services to meet your needs.
You are requested to report your handicap as soon as possible to your Aircalin agency so as to define your needs.
No medical agreement is requested in the following cases:
- A hearing or sight impaired person
- A person having difficulty moving around alone, but whose disability is stable.
On the other hand, in all other cases (unstable mental or physical disability, recent operation, “evasan” medical evacuation, travelling on a stretcher, etc.) you will be asked for a medical agreement.
The booking agent will guide you in obtaining that agreement
An able-bodied accompanying person over 18 will be requested when you may be unable to:
- Fasten and unfasten your seat-belt
- Grasp and adjust your oxygen mask,
And on long range flights
- Use on board toilets
- Have your meals
If you have your own wheel chair, you will have to state, when booking:
- the type of wheel chair you have: electric/manual, folding or not
- its weight and dimensions in the following order : length x width x height,
- the kind of batteries on the electric wheel chair (dry or damp)

Every two months, a new selection of films is provided on all our long distance flights.You may choose from a dozen recent films, with a selection for children.
There is also a series of reports on the Pacific islands, Aircalin TV showing sports, TV series and cartoons.
A dozen music channels will help you relax listening to Reggae, Jazz, or Asian Pop music.
Finally, relax while playing one of 10 games offered on the entertainment system on board.
