Qantas
Qantas is the national flagship carrier of Australia and flies non-stop, daily flights from Los Angeles to Sydney. They also have daily, non-stop flights from Los Angeles to Melbourne and Brisbane. There is also service from San Francisco and New York to principal cities in Australia.
The Qantas story is inextricably linked with the development of civil aviation in Australia. It begins with fragile biplanes carrying one or two passengers in open cockpits and progresses to the new Airbus A380s flying some 450 people half way around the world in a day.
But, it is a story of human endeavor, not just machines. A few determined individuals overcame formidable obstacles to establish the Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services Ltd (QANTAS). Supported by committed staff and loyal customers, the airline persevered through war and peace to serve the nation and build an enterprise.
Today, Qantas is widely regarded as the world’s leading long distance airline and one of the strongest brands in Australia. It’s bright red tail with stylized white kangaroo logo is recognizable worldwide.
In 2004, Qantas launched its new low-cost carrier division called JetStar. And in 2008, was one of the first global airlines to introduce the A380 double-decker jumbo jet into service.
