Yarra Valley

Yarra Valley cellar doors encompass everything from grand architectural statements to rustic tin sheds hidden among the vines. The architecture perfectly reflects the diversity of styles and approaches in this fertile, beautiful, cool-climate region.

With the wineries at the heart of the Yarra Valley visitor offering, you’ll also discover art galleries, accommodation, restaurants, cafes, antique stores, markets, nature walks and family attractions such as the Healesville Sanctuary.

Located to the north-east of Melbourne is the Yarra Valley. It is Victoria’s oldest wine region with over 80 wineries set in picturesque rolling hills mainly around Lilydale, Coldstream, Yarra Glen, Healesville and Seville. The first vines were planted in 1838 at Yering Station and these days the Yarra Valley is recognized as one of Australia’s chief cool climate producing regions. Many of the wineries have cellar doors offering wine sales, picnic and BBQ facilities, with some of them also featuring restaurants, cafes and boutique accommodation, making them complete attractions within themselves.

The drive north east along the Maroondah Highway from Healesville passes through Black Spur which is noted for its spectacular tall trees and dense forests. Past Black Spur is the small village of Marysville where natural attractions abound at this gateway to the snow resort of Lake Mountain.
