Viti Levu

Viti Levu (Great Fiji) is the main island of Fiji with about three-quarters of the country’s population, centered around its’ three largest cities: Suva (principal seat of government), Lautoka and Nadi (Nan-dee). It also serves as the commercial and industrial hub of the country and is approximately equal in land size to the big island of Hawaii. There is a sealed (paved asphalt) road ringing the island, which takes approximately 8 hours to navigate.
Denarau Island – 20 minutes
Nadi area – 20 minutes
Coral Coast – 1 – 1½ hours
Pacific Harbour – 2 hours
Suva – 3 hours
Lautoka – 30 minutes
The island has ample beaches (the best are located on the off-shore islands) but is renowned for its dramatic highlands scenery that can be explored through a variety of tours.
Just after leaving the airport, off the first round-about (traffic circle) is the entrance road to the Novotel Nadi.
Between the airport and Nadi town are some local restaurants worth exploring – RJ’s for Ribs (has a branch in Beverly Hills); the Bounty (popular with ex-pats) and Ed’s Bar complex. Just before entering Nadi town is the turn-off, to the right, for the road to Denarau Island.
