Pacific Harbour

A 2 ½ hour drive from Nadi brings you to Pacific Harbour. Originally developed as a complete destination with its own 18-hole championship golf course and homes on an inland waterway. The lagoon surrounding the nearby island of Beqa (Ben-ga), home of the legendary firewalkers of Fiji, is a world renowned diving location.

Known as the “Adventure Capital of Fiji”, Pacific Harbour is only 45 minutes from the capital at Suva. There is also fishing, jet-skiing and a world-class surfing break at nearby Frigate’s Passage. You can also enjoy a day picnic on Yanuca Island, this one in Beqa Lagoon.

The former Pacific Harbour Cultural Centre has been reborn as the Arts Village and offers a true glimpse into the cultural history of the islands. Anchored by an authentic, chief’s Bure Kalau (spirit house), you will board replicas of a Fijian double hulled canoe (drua) in a tour around various stations where artisans demonstrate traditional weaving, carving, pottery and the making of tapa cloth. The tour culminates with a performance from the nearby firewalkers from Beqa Island. Check with the Arts Village as it is only open certain days of the week.

Rivers Fiji is a not to be missed, white water kayaking trip on the Navua River. You need not have any prior experience and half the fun is trying to control the inflatable kayaks. The bus ride up through the Namosi highlands is awe inspiring and culminates with a stop at the local village to ask the chief’s permission to enter the river. Paddling through the Navua River Gorge, with its high canyon walls, will be memorable. The trip ends with a ride down river in a motorized longboat past multitudes of waterfalls.

The beautiful Royal Davui Resort is located on a private island with Beqa Lagoon off-shore from Pacific Harbour.
