Kotu Group

Kotu Island is the farthest west of the Lulunga Group. It lies 4 miles North North West of the Tungua islet. The island is beautifully but densely wooded. At it speak Kotu Island is 37 meters tall to the top of the trees. The south end of the island is boarded with stunning reddish clay cliffs which are 15 meters high. However the north end of the island stretches a gorgeous sandy shore.

Kotu island is located on a stunning coral reed which expend two miles south east of the island. An extensive reef and foul ground also extends nearly 3.3 miles east north east from the island. Between the East end of this reed and the West side of the reef fronting Ha’afeva island, there is a deep channel through the reef which is approximately 0.6 miles wide.

The most dangerous in the group lies 1 mile west of Kotu Island. The reef is 3 miles long in a North to South direction.

Another part of the Kotu Island reef at its most Northerly point is Putuputua, a marvelous sand cay only about 3.7 meter high which extends along the reef for 3 miles North East of Kotu Island.
