View Itinerary

Day 1: Auckland | Arrive Auckland, pick-up your rental car and transfer to your downtown hotel.

Day 2: Auckland - Waitomo | Depart Auckland and drive towards Waitomo. Black Water Rafting (Black Labyrinth) is the original Waitomo subterranean adventure that will have you climbing, black water tubing, leaping and floating through Ruakuri Cave. Over three hours you'll take leaps of faith over cascading waterfalls and float serenely down an underground river as you enjoy the glow worm show on the vaulted limestone galleries up above. Overnight in Waitomo.

Day 3: Waitomo – Taupo | This morning you will travel to Taupo. You can drive there straight from Waitomo or take a longer route via Rotorua - a place to become familiar with the Maori culture and to witness geothermal activities.

Day 4: Taupo | Today is yours to explore Lake Taupo area. In the afternoon take a short scenic cruise on Lake Taupo. Cruise straight to the Maori rock carvings and learn about the cultural and volcanic history of Lake Taupo with a live informative commentary. Explore Taupo at leisure in the afternoon.

Day 5: Taupo – Wellington | Your drive to Wellington is about 5 hours. Just before you reach Wellington, consider making a stop at the Martinborough wine country.

Day 6: Wellington | Explore Wellington on your own. Relax at Oriental Bay, Wellington’s golden-sand inner-city beach and delve into the many museums, art galleries and theatre shows. Stroll along the City to Sea walk where you can experience the best of Wellington's waterfront or ride the cable car up the hill to Kelburn for amazing views over the city.

Day 7: Wellington - Kaikoura | Your journey today will take you across the Cook Strait on the Interislander ferry from Wellington to Picton. The 92 km voyage takes approximately 3 hours and has been described as "one of the most beautiful ferry rides in the world".

Day 8: Kaikoura - Christchurch | In the morning, take a Whale Watch cruise in Kaikoura. Giant Sperm Whales are the stars of the show and year-round residents. A typical Whale Watch tour may encounter New Zealand Fur Seals, pods of Dusky dolphins and the endangered Wandering Albatross.

Day 9: Christchurch - Queenstown | Continue your journey to Queenstown. Consider making a stop at the Mount Cook Village to admire the majestic beauty of the Mount Cook.

Day 10: Milford Mariner | Today travel by Real Journey's coach from Queenstown to Milford Sound. On arrival board the Milford Mariner overnight cruise. Enjoy a full length cruise of this spectacular fiord to the Tasman Sea before anchoring for the night in sheltered Harrison Cove. Go exploring with your nature guide in the tender craft, paddle in a kayak or simply relax on deck. A carvery buffet is served in the dining saloon and, as the evening progresses, enjoy the company of fellow passengers before retiring to the comfort of your private cabin.

Day 11: Queenstown | Return to Queenstown by coach.

Day 12: Queenstown | Explore Queenstown at you own pace. Experience one of the world's most exciting Jet boat rides. The Shotover Jet is the only company permitted to operate in the spectacular Shotover River Canyons. It’s a thrilling & unique ride - skimming past rocky outcrops at close range.

Day 13: Return your rental car in the afternoon, catch a flight to Auckland, connect to your international flight back home.
